Jim, a Principal of the firm, has more than 25 years of experience as a Project Manager and Senior Hydrogeologist in all areas of groundwater supply and environmental hydrogeology. He heads the Municipal Services Group at Liesch and has substantial experience in groundwater supply, water supply protection, environmental hydrogeology and wastewater disposal.

Jim manages investigations for clients who want to expand, protect, improve and develop sources of water supply for municipalities, industry, and commercial water suppliers. He works closely with his clients to obtain the necessary permits and approvals including SDS/NPDES, water appropriation permits, environmental assessments and environmental impact statements. Jim has experience conducting specialized investigations for construction dewatering, surface water/wetland impact assessment, drainage analysis and investigations of State and Federal Superfund sites including landfills, contaminated water supplies and spill sites.

He also serves the legal community as a technical expert and expert witness on projects including such diverse topics as building collapse, drainage assessment, wetland issues, landfill litigation, cost allocation/recovery, and construction related litigation.

Jim earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Earth Science from the University of Wisconsin in River Falls. He is a Certified Professional Geologist and Licensed in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Texas.
