Liesch provides a broad range of wetland delineation services backed by years of field experience utilizing federal wetland delineation methodologies. Liesch personnel have extensive experience performing wetland delineations on numerous wetland types and at sites that present unique challenges.
Regulatory Assistance
Liesch staff has a broad base of experience with wetland regulators in all aspects of regulatory issues including, but not limited to, wetland banking, wetland replacement design and permitting, exemption requests, sequencing analysis and enforcement actions. Liesch staff has a thorough knowledge of federal Section 404 Clean Water Act regulations and state wetland regulations which may apply to individual projects.
Construction Monitoring
It is essential that permit plans and construction specifications be followed closely to assure that construction of replacement wetlands is completed in such a way that it will lead to a successful wetland mitigation project. Liesch provides hands-on construction quality control/quality assurance to optimize achievement of the project wetland replacement goals and overall quality of the site. Liesch emphasizes sufficient interaction with the contractor to assure that costly mistakes are not made and that inadvertent wetland filling does not occur. Liesch also provides documentation of finished replacement wetland construction to regulatory agencies.
Post-Construction Monitoring
Permits requiring wetland replacement often include post-construction monitoring to evaluate the success of the constructed or restored wetland mitigation or banking area. Liesch works with the property owner to develop a post-construction monitoring program to meet individual permit requirements and to produce accurate and thorough annual monitoring reports.
Wetland Function and Value Assessments
Wetland regulators will sometimes require evaluation of wetland functions and values as part of the wetland assessment process in the evaluation of constructed/restored wetlands. Liesch has practical experience in completing this assessment in accordance with applicable state protocols.
Other Benefits
Liesch works with individual property owners to develop a wetland creation/restoration approach that meets the requirements of the regulatory agencies. In addition, Liesch staff will consult with clients to also incorporate additional benefits to their property as part of the wetland creation/restoration process. These benefits include designing plantings that attract desired species of wildlife by providing food plots or habitat. In addition, Liesch can provide ideas for educational/recreational opportunities associated with the created/restored wetland areas.
