Liesch is involved with the non-profit organization Engineers Without Borders (EWB), and has donated funding and engineering staff to projects which supply potable water to people in rural Guatemala. In addition to the donations provided by Liesch, engineering staff have donated their time and expertise to these projects. Engineering staff have also provided leadership to Minnesota EWB chapters by mentoring the University of Minnesota student chapter and serving as an elected official for the EWB-Minnesota professional chapter.
