Dana is a Principal of the firm and a Senior Project Manager with 20 years of experience managing numerous single and multi-site projects across the United States, in Canada and Mexico. Dana specializes in transactional-oriented environmental due diligence, particularly for the private equity community. He has represented buyers and sellers in both stock and asset transactions, providing Phase I & II environmental site assessments, regulatory compliance audits, strategic planning for environmental matters, and post-closing site response.

Dana has significant experience in Brownfield redevelopment, including commercial, retail, residential and mixed use projects of various sizes in different markets. He routinely interacts with state, federal and local regulatory agencies on behalf of clientele in obtaining regulatory resolutions to environmental contamination issues and compliance matters. Dana has also assisted clients in obtaining over $5M in assessment and clean-up grants via federal, state and local funding sources. Dana has completed regulatory compliance reviews and provided environmental permitting assistance for numerous facilities. He has also worked with the legal community as an expert witness on disputed matters.

Dana earned a Bachelor of Science in Geography from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis/St. Paul. He is involved with the Minnesota Chapter of the Association of Corporate Growth and is a Certified Hazardous Material Manager.

Hal Summitt

Hal is a Principal and Professional Engineer with Liesch. He is the head of Liesch's Airport Services group and the lead senior professional for the firm’s storm water and water resources activities. For over 30 years, Hal has worked with the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) on a broad range of environmental management issues with particular focus around NPDES permitting and stormwater management.

Hal and his team guide airport clients with NPDES permitting by designing the construction and operation of facilities required to meet more stringent NPDES permit requirements. Hal also has significant experience with assessing, designing and implementing Aircraft De-Icing Fluid (ADF) management programs which involves containment, collection, recycling, and treatment of spent ADF fluid.

Hal directs his team in assisting clients in a wide variety of interrelated compliance issues such as, environmental site assessments, groundwater and soil assessment and remediation, air quality services, and wetland services.

Hal has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis/St. Paul campus and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University in Ames. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Association of Airport Executives.

Ken Olson

Ken, a Principal with the firm, has over 30 years of experience in the environmental consulting industry and currently manages Liesch’s Hydrogeology section. Ken represents clients with regulatory agencies, negotiating scope of necessary responses at sites across the United States. He acts as a Senior Project Manager for investigation and remediation at hazardous substance and petroleum release sites and solid waste disposal facilities. Chemicals at issue in both soils and groundwater have included chlorinated organics, semi-volatile organics, PCBs, dioxins, wood treating chemicals, and heavy metals.

Ken also works extensively with the legal community and their clients in support of potential/actual litigated matters. He has particular expertise relating to litigated matters and coordinating the work of multiple disciplines. Roles include prime consultant for clients, 3rd party review, and expert witness. Litigated matters have included toxic tort, insurance recovery, hazardous substance release response, petroleum release property damage assessment, responsible party determination and cost allocation, and NCP compliance. Ken also designs data collection and management protocols for potentially litigated matters. He has testified through depositions, hearings and trial.

Ken earned a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Minnesota and is a Professional/Licensed Geologist in multiple states.
